Wide Angle Wednesday: 2014 Resolution

  1. I was wondering who would tackle these types of pictures! I had one Facebook friend try, taking pictures just with her phone, and the bubbles lacked the iridescence and perfect shape of the bubbles you posted here.

Living in Chicago, I have to deal with the cold temperatures affecting my camera as well. I've started keeping hand warmers in my bag once the weather gets cooler, plus as many extra batteries as I can fit in my bag nice and close to the hand warmers. Those warmers came in handy during an engagement session in December - in between shots we all kept our fingers warm!

  2. Hi Carolyn,
I apologize for not seeing your comment from this blog until now. The biggest task is catching the bubble without it popping or collapsing. The other key is to attempt this without wind, which I would assume would be a hard task in Chicago. I was hoping to attempt this project again this morning now that the Arctic blast has arrived. Currently the outside temperature is only 8* with a wind chill of -10*. The ideal temperature is -16 and colder to maintain the stability of the bubble. Of course I'm going to give it a try this morning and see what I get. Wish me luck :)

    1. Thanks for the suggestion of using hand warmers! I know we have a box of them in our camping gear.
